Nancy the Seagull

A note from Liz: I soon as I saw these friends from "and the little dog laughed," I knew I needed to meet them. When they arrived they immediately brought so much joy into our space. I hope you'll find a friend for you or a loved one. Be sure to read the story that accompanies each one.

Meet Nancy, the seagull that swooped on in and immediately became everyone's favorite. Made from beautifully soft 100% cotton plush in white, with mustard corduroy feet, pink corduroy wings, and a classic black-and-white scarf, she has a delightfully quirky character that children fall in love with on first sight. A playful and truly unique baby shower gift or birthday surprise.

Nancy loves twirling in the garden, borrowing her mum's old pearl necklaces, and making up elaborate songs that only she knows the words to. She doesn't like itchy jumpers.

More about the artist: All the and the little dog laughed friends are designed in Australia by wonderful artist Kylie Platt who Liz was lucky enough to meet at a trade show. They formed an instant connection about stories and childhood hopes. When she was little, Kylie would sit in her Nana’s back room sewing clothes for her dolls, and learning to knit and crochet. She always loved that feeling of creating something from nothing. After seeing so many soft toys come and go in her own children’s lives—often poorly made and loved for a moment,  and quickly discarded—Kylie set out to create something different. The name comes from one of Kylie’s favourite nursery rhyme as a child “Hey Diddle Diddle” — a gentle reminder to laugh, dream, and hold onto the wonder of being little.
